This time we’ll review the ELEGOO Mega 2560 The Most Complete Starter Kit.
Before christmas Elegoo send me this ELEGOO Mega 2560 The Most Complete Starter Kit and challenge me to make a christmas project . After the project os done, it’s time to review all components of the kit.
You also can see this review on my youtube channel.
Components
When we open the kit, the fist itens are the cd with multiple content and a thanks card from Elegoo with their social networks and contacts.
After that we have the components:
- An Arduino Mega 2560 with all the pins markers on side
- Multiple Resistors
- A RC522 RFID Reader with a card and a key
- Numeric Membrane Switch
- A Soft Fan with a 3-V DC Motor
- A Full Length Protoboard
- A 9V Power Supply
- A Power Supply Module
- A MAX7219 8×8 Matrix Led
- A 4 digit Seven Segment Display
- A 1 Digit Seven Segment Display
- A 5V Relay
- A 9V Battery
- A Joystick
- A Prototype Expansion Module
- A Sound Sensor
- A DS1307 Real Time Clock
- A HC-SR501 PIR Motion Sensor
- A Rotary Encoder
- A IR receiver with a Remote Control
- A DHT11 Temperature and Humidity Sensor
- A Water Level Sensor
- A LCD 1602 Module
- A SG90 Servo
- USB and Jumper Cables
- A Stepper Motor
- A ULN2003 Stepper Motor Driver
- A HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor
- A GY-521 Module
- A 9v Snap-in Cable
And a case with multiple small components
- Photoresitor (Photocell)
- Thermistor
- Diodes
- RGB Leds
- 100uF and 10uF Electrolytic Capacitor
- L293D
- 74HC595
- 104pF and 22pF Ceramic Capacitors
- NPN PN2222 Transistor
- NPN S8050 Transistor
- Some buttons
- An Active and Passive Buzzer
- A Tilt Ball Switch
- 10K Potentiometer
- And multiple color leds
Like in the Arduino R3 Kit we have a power supply to power the breadboard with 3.3v or 5v DC. The stepper motor can be placed directly on the stepper motor driver to be controller.
The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor uses an ultrasonic sound to, for example, measure distances. The DHT11 can be used for measure temperature and humidity. Been both infrared we can use the receiver and the remote together. In the shield we have the expansion for the Mega 2560 pins and the surface for the components. Also we can place the breadboard on the surface of the shield. We can use the photoresistors to measure the quantity of light like we are going to see in the example.
We also have a water level sensor that can measure the level of water, a 8×8 matrix led to display some information and a GY-521 that have a 3 axis gyroscope, a 3-axis accelerometer, a digital motion processor (DMP), and a temperature sensor, between other components.
The Elegoo Arduino Mega 2560 can be powered from USB or from the 9v adapter supplied. It has convenient pin labels on the side. This feature is very handy when you have to place a shield on the top.
On the cd we have all the components datasheets, in multiple languages all the sample code, all the library needed, two pdf telling how to install the arduino drivers on Windows and Linux and a pdf with all the components and multiple lessons.
In this lessons we can test all the components in the package, We have sample code for all of them and also the explanation how the code and the component works.
Following this lessons we can master all the components included on the package. For any problem Elegoo also provide the e-mail for service contacts.
On the first example we’ll use the photocell. On the PDF is a list with all the components needed, All the schematics to connect the components, And the code needed.
After connect all we can see the example working. The led’s show how much light is received.
On another example we use the dc motor. Like the last example we have components needed and the specifications of each one, The schematic for the connections and the code used.
After connecting everything we see the fan working on multiple modes.
Final considerations
This is a very complete kit. It has multiple components that cover a wide range of options. If you want this kit i’ll leave a link on the description. You can buy it on Amazon.
Elegoo also have some other kits and equipments. On their website we can find multiple kits, robots and parts but also resin 3d printers.
If you want to start learn arduino or if you need multiple components, this ELEGOO Mega 2560 The Most Complete Starter Kit is a great kit to buy. I’ll get a lot of fun with it.
If you what to see the Elegoo Super Starter Kit Uno R3 you can check it here.
I’ll like to thanks to Eleggo for sending this kit with a challenge. I hope you had fun with this review and has been motivated to start learning new things. Now it’s time for start using all the components and play with it. See you next time.
